On July 9th, not having had a single reader other than friends and family, Buford and I decided we were on a lonely road. I woke Buf up and we discussed our dilemma while he gnawed on an old Sketcher of mine.
We agreed that right from the get go, we had some interesting new things to say and our posts were very respectable for beginners. But we also admitted that because we knew squat about SEO, our friends and extended family would be our only readers for a very long time. And how did we know whether they were actually reading our stuff or not?
I didn't take up blogging to thrill, entertain and inform only that circle of people who always think we're great. I wanted, after years of making jokes and wisecracks about the world as I see it, to try to get my views -- humorous and otherwise -- on paper and share them with people I didn't know.
The decision was made and on July 9th I made my last post for a while. The Mosquito remained on the web, but its guts went in for a tune-up. Finally, we are ready to roll.
Don't be surprised if in a few weeks, we repost some of my old stuff. The reason is to get some use out of those early pieces while buying a little time to punch out new ones. Buford and I are hoping our tune-up will turn on our jets.
